On Tuesday night, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will meet for the first time since the tumultuous summer events that changed the presidential race in a debate hosted by ABC.
What time does the presidential debate start?
The presidential debate will be held at Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center on Tuesday, September 10, at 9 p.m. ET.
ABC has said that network anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis, two of the network’s most popular anchors, will moderate the show-off.
How to watch the debate on campus?
According to the Life@Fairfield events section, the Dimenna-Nyselius Library will have a watch party in the building’s auditorium, which is located on the ground floor. The event will start at 9:00 p.m.
Fairfield students can stream the event from their devices for free through Streeme.TV. To use the Streeme, students should visit live.streeme.tv while connected to the campus network (wifi). The university recommends using the SSO option to log in, which will prompt users to the my.fairfield.edu sign-in page.
A contractual dispute between Disney and DirecTV will be present once again tonight, when millions of Americans, including on-campus Streeme users, will not be able to watch the debate through ABC. On September 1, due to the ongoing dispute, DirecTV removed most of the Disney-owned stations, including ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, FX and National Geographic, from its service. Still, the debate will be multicast by all the major networks.
What are the rules?
- The debate will last 90 minutes, with two commercial breaks.
- As with the Biden-Trump debate in July, the microphones will be live only for the speaking candidate, while the other candidates’ microphones will be muted.
- There will be no opening statements, but candidates will have two minutes to answer questions and deliver closing remarks.
- Candidates will not be allowed to interact with campaign staff during the commercial breaks nor have props or pre-written notes on stage.
A vice presidential debate between Republican Senator JD Vance and Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is scheduled for October 1 in New York City. It will be hosted by CBS.
