Coffee is more than just a drink at Fairfield University–it’s a routine, a needed energy boost, and simply a delicious beverage! The question is, which coffee spot is the school’s favorite? According to a poll I created on the Fizz app, the students have strong opinions. Over 1,500 votes were casted, revealing Dunkin’ as the clear favorite with 512 votes, followed by Starbucks with 289, Peet’s Coffee with 247 and the Tully’s coffee coming in last with 106 votes.
Dunkin’
Dunkin’ took the lead and it’s easy to see why. Its location is accessible, making it one of the most convenient options for students on the go. “I like Dunkin’ the best because it is in the most convenient spot on campus and nothing can beat Dunkin’s signature coffee flavor, it’s just the best!” said Professor Alibrandi. Dunkin’s familiarity, tasty donuts and breakfast sandwiches are also likely to play a role in its popularity. For students and staff who value a quick, reliable cup of coffee, Dunkin’ is the perfect place.
Starbucks
Starbucks came in second place with 289 votes. Although it didn’t secure the top spot, it continues to be a popular favorite among many. Claire ‘27, a student who cast her vote for Starbucks, said, “Starbucks is my favorite coffee on campus because they have all of the best holiday flavors and they’re the most consistent!” There is a variety of drinks, including seasonal favorites like the Pumpkin Spice Latte in the fall and the Peppermint Mocha during the holiday season. These limited-time drinks draw in many students who look forward to these flavors each year, which makes Starbucks a trusted option, especially if you’re grabbing a pick-me-up before class in the Dolan School of Business.
Peet’s Coffee
Peet’s Coffee racked up 247 votes and stands as a solid contender for those needing a little boost in the Library. Known for its strong brews and unique flavors like dark roasts, spicy blends and seasonal options such as lavender matcha, it attracts students who enjoy rich and bold coffee, along with some Sambazon acai bowls!
“I would say Peet’s is my favorite spot because their caramel macchiato is delicious!” shared Sam ‘25. While Peet’s may not have the convenience of Dunkin’s location or the variety of flavors at Starbucks, it’s a great option for those willing to explore beyond the more popular spots and they take meal swipes!
The Tully
The Tully came in last with 106 votes. The campus dining hall offers coffee options that some students and staff appreciate for their accessibility during meals. While it may not boast the brand recognition or specialty flavors of other coffee shops, its accessible coffee options are a hit among students and staff, especially during mealtimes. Plus, it’s free!
While Dunkin’ may be the champion for now, it’s clear that each coffee spot has its own loyal customers. Whether it’s the convenience of Dunkin’, the seasonal favorites at Starbucks or the rich flavors of Peet’s, Fairfield University’s coffee scene has something for everyone. So, next time you need a caffeine pick-me-up, remember, you’ve got options!
