Fairfield U students have reported multiple sightings of drone activity Sunday evening.
Barnyard residents believe they saw two drones flying over the housing units and the Barnyard parking area in opposite directions at 10:30 p.m.
These sentiments from students echo conversations happening across the East Coast as these mystery drones continue to be seen over states like New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.
Lexi Currivan ’25 says she thought the drone was a plane when she first noticed it in the sky. However, she says the drone’s lights, shape and height made her realize it was a drone, as it appeared to be flying at a much lower level than a plane would.
She admits she had not heard much about the issue before, but is feeling unsettled after witnessing the drone activity in person.
“Seeing one is weird, especially because it was 10:30 at night… whose flying drones at that time?” Currivan said.
Ava Raymond ’25 was with her when the sighting took place and expressed suspicion with why it was there. She had heard about drone sightings around the region and specifically in Fairfield from family and accounts on TikTok, but had not seen one before herself.

Raymond explained, “It was going in one direction, and then we turned around- we saw another one, same exact look, going in another direction.
Definitely a little creepy, especially because it was out at night and this is my first time seeing one.”
A user on the Fizz app also noted a sighting around the same time. They took to the anonymous app at 10:32 p.m.posting a video captioning his post,” Why these drones on campus?”
Two days ago, another fizz user posted a comment saying,” Anyone else see the drone??” That post currently has ten upvotes.

Fairfield law enforcement have said they are aware and monitoring the situation and have been in contact with both state and federal leaders.
You can report any sightings of drone activity on the CT Safe Mobile App or directly through the Suspicious Activity Reporting Form.
