A new school year has arrived, which means the campus is buzzing yet again with events and activities. From late-night programming to sporting events, there is something for everyone at Fairfield U! Here is my list of upcoming campus events that I think are worth checking out.
The Fairfield University Quick Center For the Arts is always hosting unique events, talks and shows. On Monday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m., “Inter Alia”, a new play written by Suzie Miller, is coming to the Quick Center. This play is about Jessica, a London Crown Court judge, whose life gets thrown off balance by a crisis. You can purchase your tickets at the Quick Center website– $5 for students.
If live shows and plays are not your thing, on Tuesday Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m., Thomas Chatterton Williams is coming to the Quick Center to promote his new book. He will be joined by Fairfield Professor Phil Klay, to discuss how various crises have shaped his American Liberal values. If you are interested in the writing field, this talk is a great way to dive deeper into it on campus.
Life@Fairifeld is a great way to find all the events and activities happening on campus. I highly recommend checking it out, but I will give you some ideas of events you can attend.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, Fairfield’s downtown bookstore is hosting an event from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This Student VIP Night is open to all Fairfield students and will include a night of raffles, free treats, discounts and more.
If you are in need of a relaxing break from studies and schoolwork, try meditation! On Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 5:00 p.m. Jackie Delise is hosting a Meditation and Mindfulness event in the Bellarmine Hall Galleries. This is a great way to clear your mind from any stress and worries that might be arising.
Most of the time, we cannot bring our loving pets with us to college, but don’t worry! Fairfield has many therapy dogs on campus and even has a program called Wags and Wellness. On Wednesday, Sept. 24, The Wags and Wellness program is hosting a meet-and-greet with all their dogs. Come by the Egan Chapel at 1:00 p.m. to get your animal fix for the day. I am a frequent visitor of the therapy dogs, and trust me, they are adorable!
Are you looking to find that Stag spirit? There are so many sporting events happening on campus every week. On Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1:00 p.m., our women’s soccer team will face Sacred Heart in an epic rival matchup. On Friday, Sept. 26, the women’s volleyball team will battle against Merrimack at 6:00 p.m. You can see all upcoming games and purchase tickets from the Fairfield University Athletics website.
With so many exciting events happening this semester, there is no shortage of ways to get involved. Whether you are in the mood to see an intense soccer match, want to pet a friendly dog or watch a though-provoking play, there is something for everyone.
Check out Life@Fairfield for all the upcoming events and activities!
