Keira Haggerty, a sophomore, is getting into the Christmas spirit by attending the Annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Marketplace. “It is my favorite event of the year. I absolutely love the hot chocolate, winter-themed cookies, Santa hats, Christmas music and, of course, the lights! I can’t wait!” she shared.
Haggerty attended the event last year and loved the festive atmosphere and the chance to shop for unique gifts for her family from local vendors.
This year’s Annual Holiday Marketplace and Tree Lighting will take place Dec. 2, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving break, from 5 to 7 p.m. It will be outside the Egan Chapel and is open to the local Fairfield community. The tree will officially be lit at 6:30 p.m.
The Holiday Pop-Up shop will open at 5:30 p.m. Guests can browse handcrafted items, ornaments, seasonal treats, stocking stuffers and presents perfect for holiday gifting.
Junior Jane Coppola, member of Sweet Harmony, will be performing with the Bensonians, singing Lessons & Carols, including songs like Ariana Grande’s “Last Christmas,” “Vuelie” from “Frozen” and many other classic Christmas carols. “The tree lighting is one of my favorite parts of Sweet Harmony!” Coppola said. “It’s our first opportunity to perform our holiday music and we’re always so excited.”
Attendees can also stop by the photo section to take photos with Santa and Lucas the Stag. Bundle up, bring your friends and enjoy the festivities that start the holiday season!
